Privacy policy

This policy covers everything run by Global Scholar Press (a trading name of Nobtrex LLC, United States): the website globalscholarpress.com, the free online EPUB editor, the commissioned book-writing service, and the eBook Doctor app for ChatGPT. It says exactly what we receive, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and how you can delete it.

1. eBook Doctor (the ChatGPT app)

eBook Doctor is a set of 52 tools that ChatGPT calls on our server to inspect, repair, validate, convert and prepare EPUB files, and to review the writing chapter by chapter. The server runs no AI model of its own; it only executes the operations ChatGPT requests. It is free and needs no account.

In short: we receive the EPUB (and any cover or replacement file) you attach in ChatGPT plus the arguments of the tool calls made for you; we use them only to carry out the operation you asked for, to keep the service secure and to count usage in aggregate; the only other parties involved are OpenAI (the channel) and IONOS (our host); and your book and everything produced from it are erased 24 hours after the last activity, or immediately when you ask ChatGPT to close the book or press Erase my book from this server on your book page. We never train AI models on your book, never advertise to you from the app and never sell your data.

The complete policy for the app — every category of data collected, what each group of tools receives and returns, the purposes, the recipients, the retention periods and your controls — is here: eBook Doctor app privacy policy. It governs the app endpoint /mcp, the download endpoint and the book pages; this page governs the rest of our services.

3. Advertising measurement on globalscholarpress.com

Pages of our website (not the ChatGPT app endpoint and not the book pages) include conversion-measurement tags from Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Meta and Reddit. They set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and tell those companies that you visited a page or completed an action (for example, ordering a book), so that we can see whether our advertisements work. They do not receive your files or the contents of your book. Each provider processes this data under its own policy; you can opt out in your browser’s cookie settings and through the providers’ ad-settings pages (Google, Microsoft, Meta, Reddit). Blocking these tags does not affect any feature of the site or the app.

4. The book-writing service (paid, optional)

Only if you order a book from us do we hold an account: your e-mail address and mobile phone number, the books you ordered, the materials you give us for them, the drafts and files we produce, and messages exchanged about them. Payments are taken by Stripe on its own checkout page; we receive the payment confirmation, never your card details. Account data is kept while your account exists and for the period required for tax and accounting records afterwards. Nothing in the ChatGPT app or the free editor requires a purchase or an account.

Text messages (SMS). We use your mobile number for two things only. (1) When you create an account we text you a one-time activation code, which you requested by signing up. (2) If you opt in by ticking the box next to the mobile-number field (it is never pre-ticked and is not a condition of purchase), we text you transactional updates about your own orders — for example that your book or a revision is ready to download — typically 1–4 messages per order. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help; you can also opt out by e-mail. We never send marketing texts. Texts are delivered through Twilio, which processes your number only to deliver them; we keep a record of your opt-in (the time and the page you used) with your account. We do not sell, rent or share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Full details: SMS terms.

6. Security

All connections use HTTPS. Workspaces are isolated by unguessable identifiers and file permissions, are never listed, and no login exists that could expose them. Our staff access a workspace only to investigate a problem you report to us.
